The Summer Beach Run is the oldest footrace in Florida.....This is the 2nd race of the 2009-2010 Jacksonville Grand Prix.......

Course is run out and back starting to the south.

Walkers Are Welcome!

One mile fun run for kids. Starts 5 minutes after the 5 mile race.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION

The Carrabba's Summer Beach Run is open to all runners, joggers and walkers. Entries will be accepted by mail until August 18th.

Make your checks payable to: Summer Beach Run

and mail to: 3931 Baymeadows Road, Jacksonville, FL 32217.

Walk-in entries will be accepted anytime at one of the following 1st Place Sports locations from 10:00 AM until 7:00 PM (6:00 PM at Orange Park), Monday through Saturday until August 22nd

• 2016 San Marco Blvd. In Jacksonville (399-8880)

• 424 South 3rd Street in Jacksonville Beach (270-2221)

ENTRY FEE

$ 20.00 until August 15th,

$ 25.00 Until Raceday

$ 15.00 for children under 13 and for senior citizens over 65 until August 18th

JTC members $2.00 discount until August 16th

$ 25.00 on the day of race for everyone.

$12.00 one mile fun run entry fee includes a t-shirt

Runners who register on the day of race may have to pickup their t-shirt

at 1st Place Sports the week after the race.


RACE PACKET P ICKUP

Packets will be available for pick up at one of the following 1st Place Sports locations:

• 3931 Baymeadows Road, Jacksonville
• 2016 San Marco Blvd., Jacksonville
• 424 South 3rd Street, Jacksonville Beach
• 2186 Park Avenue, Orange Park

Be sure to check your pickup location on your entry form. If you do not indicate a location, your packet will automatically be at the Baymeadows store. Packets will be available on Thursday, August 20th from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM (6:00 PM at Orange Park) and Friday, August 21st from 10:00 AM
until 6:00 PM.

Day of Race only:

All packets will be moved to the Jacksonville Seawalk Pavilion for day of race pickup from 5:00 PM until 6:45PM


COURSE INFORMATION

The course is out and back on the beach. The race will start heading south. Digital clocks will be located at each mile. The turn around point will be clearly marked with signs and cones. Water stations will be located each mile. The race will be held near low tide to ensure adequate beach for all runners.

 

RUN AWARDS

Cash awards of $150 and $100 & $50 will be paid to the top three men and women overall. Specially designed beach towels will be given to the top 5 men and women overall and to the top 3 masters male and female finishers. Age-group awards will be given to the top 3 finishers in each of the following men's and women's divisions: 10 and under, 11-13, 14-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65 -69, 70-74, and 75 and over . Five awards will be awarded in the 30-34 through 45-49 age groups.

 

DIRECTIONS TO RACE SITE

The Seawalk Pavilion is located where Beach Blvd. meets the Ocean in Downtown, Jacksonville Beach. Take Butler Boulevard from I-95 to A1A and then north three miles to Beach Boulevard. .

 

Big Post Race Party

Free food from Carrabba's Italian Grill, Free Beer provided by Budweiser, Powerade, Blue Ridge Mountain Water, fruit and other refreshments will be served right after the race. Live music provided by "Ain't Too Proud To Beg" will proceed the award's ceremony at the stage in the fenced area. Stick around and enjoy the good times, great music and the award's ceremony.

 

CHAMPIONCHIP TIMING (chip must be attached to your shoe)

The 5 Mile race will be timed using the ChampionChip. Your entry fee covers the cost of the chip rental. If you have your own chip, you need to enter your chip number on the entry form, and deduct $2.00 for the entry fee. If you're using your own chip, you must register prior to race day.

 

The awards ceremony will start at 8:45 PM at the Seawalk Pavilion Stage.

The Carrabba's Summer Beach Run is the second race of the 2009-2010 Jacksonville Grand Prix schedule. Runners who finish in the top ten of their age group will receive points to be counted in the overall series.
