1/2 Marathon Training Schedule

START AND FINISH
The 1/2 Marathon and 6K will start together at 8:00 AM on San Jose Blvd. in front of the Outback Mandarin Plaza, one mile north of Interstate 295. All races finish in Pickwick Plaza across the San Jose Blvd. from the Outback Steakhouse. The one mile for kids will start right after the start of 1/2 Mar. & 6K at the corner of Pall Mall and San Jose about 100 yards in front of the 1/2 marathon starting line.

You can help too! We would like to help provide food for the needy on Thanksgiving Day. Please bring a canned good when you pick up your race packet. We will deliver the food to the Mandarin Food Bank each day. Thanks for your help.

Make sure that you check your pick-up location on entry form. Packets will be available for pick up on the Tuesday and Wednesday before the race from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM (7:00 PM at the beach). Packets will be available at the Outback Steakhouse at the starting line one hour before the race.

Free post race refreshments, beer, fruit and bagels will be available right after the race in the Outback Steakhouse parking lot. The awards ceremony will be held in front of Outback at 10:30 AM.

Race Timing

("Chip" must be worn on your shoe or ankle)
This race will be timed using the ChampionChip. Your entry fee covers the cost of the "Chip" rental. If you have your own "Chip", you need to enter your chip number on the entry form, and deduct $2.00 from the entry fee. If you're using your own chip, you must register prior to race day. Gun and net times will be recorded

The Outback Distance Classic 1/2 Marathon is the 6th race on the Jacksonville Grand Prix series. The JGP consists of Jacksonville's best 16 running events. These races have accurately measured courses, ChampionChip timing, overall and age group awards, nice t-shirts and excellent post race celebrations. If you run a Jacksonville Grand Prix race you can rest assured that you are running a high quality event. Overall winners and finishers in the top ten of their age group will receive points. These points are accumulated throughout the series to determine the winners of over $2,000 in prize money.

ABOUT THE COURSE
Digital clocks will be located at the each mile. Traffic will be controlled by the Jacksonville Sheriffs Office. However, you should be aware that traffic will be on the course.

HALF MARATHON COURSE
The course is shaded, flat, and scenic, and runs along the St. John's River under magnificent large oak trees.

6K Loop Course (3.6 miles)
The 6K loop course will start with the 1/2 Marathon and will run the first mile together, before splitting at the corner of Oak Bluff and Scott Mill Roads. You will finish at the same finish line as the 1/2 Marathon. Results will be posted in front of the Outback Steakhouse soon after you finish.
