Team Information
There will be team competition in the Freedom 5K only. There will be first place awards presented to ROTC and Military teams. A team can consist of up to seven members, but only the first four finishers will count for the team score. The cost to enter a team is $70.00. The team entry and members individual entries should be sent in together. This insures that all listed team members are actually entered.

Packets will be available for pick up at one of the following 1st Place Sports locations:

Be sure to check your pickup location on your entry form! If you do not indicate a location, your packet will automatically be at the Baymeadows store. Packets will be availabe from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM on Thursday, September 30th, and Friday, October 1st. Packets may also be picked up on race day at the Memorial Wall located between Jacksonville Municipal Stadium and the Baseball Field.
Race Timing
The race will be timed using the Single Use ChampionChip timing system. This is the chip you will receive when you pick up your race packet. You must wear this chip to be included in the results. You may not wear personal chips for this race!
Awards
1/2 Marathon Awards: $500, $300, and $200 will be paid to the top three men and women overall. $100 to the first place masters male and female. Awards will also be presented to the first three finishers in each of the following age groups: 19 and under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and over. The 1/2 Marathon awards will be presented at 10:00 AM at the stage in Metropolitan Park.
5K Awards: Top three men and women overall and to the 1st Place Masters Male and Female. Team awards to the top High School Cross Country, ROTC, and Military Teams. 5K awards presented at the stage starting at 8:30 AM.

Directions to the Race Site
Metropolitan Park is located directly across Gator Bowl Blvd. from Jacksonville Municipal Stadium. From the South: Take Interstate 95 to Jacksonville and take the downtown exits. Take the Main Street exit. Cross the Main Street Bridge and take the first right as you head down the bridge. At the stop sign turn left on Newnan Street. At the first traffic light turn right on Bay Street. Metropolitan Park is located 1.3 miles on your right. From the North: Take Interstate 95 to Jacksonville and exit on Martin Luther King Parkway (US 1) about 3 miles north of downtown. Take the parkway south 4 miles to Jacksonville Municipal Stadium.

Parking
Parking will be available at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium and at Metropolitan Park.
Course
The Jacksonville Marine Corps 1/2 Marathon and Freedom 5K are both USATF Certified Courses. The starting line will be located near the Memorial Wall located between Jacksonville Municipal Stadium and the Veterans Memorial Arena. There will be mile makers with digital clocks located at each mile mark. All turns will be clearly marked with large turn signs. Most turns and intersections will be monitored by the Jacksonville Sheriffs Office or the Marines.
The 5K will start with the 1/2 Marathon and will run through downtown to Water Street just past Pearl Street, turn around, and will return to Metropolitan Park to finish.
The 1/2 marathon will continue from downtown over the Main and Acosta Bridges, and will run through historic Riverside along Riverside Avenue. The route will continue to St. Johns Ave run through Avondale do a loop around Boone Park and then head back along Riverside Ave until you pass under Interstate 95. At this point runners will move on to the Northbank Riverwalk and run the 2 mile path along the St. John's River until you get to Bay Street just east of Liberty St..
The Start
The 1/2 Marathon and 5K will start together at 7:00 AM on Adams Street near the Veteran's Memorial Wall at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium. The race will be started by the blast of the cannon. Please line up according to your ability. Faster runners in the front with walkers in the back of the starting area. Make sure you have you ChampionChip attached to your shoe before reporting to the starting line.
The Finish
Both races will finish inside Metropolitan Park on the grass under crossed USMC 155mm howitzers. You will enter the park by the field gate located on the east end of the park. Please cross both sets of orange mats before stopping. You time will be recorded automatically by the ChampionChip timing device that must be attached to your shoe. There is a 3.5 hour course limit for the 1/2 Marathon. Finisher medals will be given to all 5K and 1/2 marathon finishers right after you cross the finish line.

Water and gel stations
Water station will be located about every two miles and will be staffed by various Corporations and Organizations from the Jacksonville area. There will also be water at the start and finish areas. Gel will be located at mile 10 near the intersection of St. John's and King Street.
Post Race Party
After you finish the 5K or the 1/2 Marathon, you will be treated to live music, free beer, free food, and refreshments, followed by the awards ceremony. It all happens inside Metropolitan Park. Bring a blanket, and enjoy the morning.
