Proceeds from the race will benefit the Jared Bynum Scholarship Fund at Julia Landon Middle School. The scholarship fund was established after Jared's death to assist a deserving Landon student from an underprivileged background with college tuition expenses.

About Jared

Jared Bynum, a committed runner, triathlete and one of the founders of the PRS Running Club, suddenly and tragically lost his life on Sunday, October 7, 2012 when he was struck from behind by an SUV at the halfway point of his last 100 mile training ride before the Florida Ironman.

In 2010, Jared and his wife, Kelli, in collaboration with their church, Southside Baptist, started mentoring at-risk students at Julia Landon Middle School. After his fatal accident last month, Landon Middle School created a scholarship fund in Jared's honor. Funds for this scholarship will help pay college tuition costs for a deserving Landon student from an underprivileged background.

In memory of our friend, the PRS Running Club with the contributions of our race sponsors will host the first annual JB 7K at Little Talbot Island State Park to honor Jared and raise money for the Jared Bynum Scholarship Fund.

Packet Pickup

Packets will be available for pick up at the following 1st Place Sports locations on Thursday, November 29th and Friday, November 30th from 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM. Please be sure to pick a location for pickup! If you do not indicate a location, your packet will automatically be at the Baymeadows Store location. All packets will be moved to the race site for raceday pick up beginning an hour before the race.

Race Timing

The race will be timed using the MyLaps Timing Chip System (chip must be worn on your shoe during the race). Your entry fee covers the cost of the chip rental. If you have your own chip, you need to enter your chip number on the entry form, and deduct $2.00 from the entry fee. You must cross the timing mats to be included in the results. Do not wear your personal chip if you sign up on raceday!

Awards

Overall male and female awards. Age group awards as follows: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+

Course

The race starts in the southern part of Little Talbot Island State Park and heads north for approximately 2 miles on the access road in the park. Once runners reach the northern parking lot they will turn right and take the boardwalk down to the beach. Once on the beach the runners will head back south for approximately 2 miles with a finish on the beach at the southern point of Little Talbot Island.

Little Talbot Island State Park is located 17 miles northeast of Jacksonville, on State Road A1A.

Parking

Parking will be in the southern parking lot in Little Talbot Island State Park adjacent to the start and finish. Parking is $5.00 per vehicle, limit 2-8 per vehicle, $4.00 for single occupant vehicle and $2.00 for pedestrians and bicyclists.
