Dave Bokros

Director of Operations

Dave Bokros

Dave Bokros is the Director of Operations at 1st Place Sports. A technology junkie, Dave helps sort out all of our computer problems as well as many other glitches and calamities. Needless to say, he stays plenty busy.

Dave just recently retired as president of the Florida Striders Track Club in Orange Park, where he also resides. He has served on the Striders board for several years, was their president for three and has also been the race director of their most popular race, the Memorial Day 5k, in Green Cove Springs, for three years.

Runners tend to be very social people and Dave definitely falls into that category. There is nothing Dave enjoys more than meeting other runners, running with them and well…socializing with them.

Dave’s favorite race is the Gate River Run and his favorite distance is 10-miles “even”. His favorite place to run is the National Mall in Washington DC, the Capital to the Lincoln Memorial.

He says: “It’s one of those loops that you can do over and over until you are just done. It gives a person a lot to think about. Any runner visiting the area owes it to themselves to do this one.”

Dave’s sage-like advice to runners goes like this: “Some races should be training runs. It’s okay to show up and run for the t-shirt, if you spend too much time racing every weekend then it is hard to focus on a solid training plan or prolonged improvement. When your training plan says to recover, then do it!”

One of Dave’s pet projects is getting children involved in running and teaching and encouraging them to develop healthy lifestyles.

Dave can very often be found on the sales floor at the Baymeadows store or in the side office sitting at his brand new glass-top executive desk. He is always more than willing to talk running, so if you’re in the mood, just come see Dave Bokros.
